ABOUT US BILL & MARTHA BUCK Bill met Martha at a dance while in college and after dancing together all evening, they knew there was some “special” magic there. They have been dancing together ever since, but it wasn’t until the late 70’s that they discovered square dancing and then a year later saw rounds and knew that was for them. They began teaching in 1981. They currently conduct five classes a week plus travel throughout the USA and Canada as guest instructors for weekend clinics and festivals. Silver and black table décor and backdrops were used along with red carpet, flowers, greenery and special lighting to create a “Night at the Oscars” atmosphere for the dinner party. Honorees were chauffeured to the event where they were greeted by a roomful of enthusiastic attendees. After recovering from the surprise the couple walked the red carpet to monogrammed director chairs where Martha Buck was given an arm bouquet of long-stemmed red roses and the awards celebration began.	The Sunday Times June 6, 2010 Shreveporters Bill and Martha Buck were honored by more than 100 friends from across the country at a gala dinner party hosted by members of the local Red River Rounders Round Dance Club. The dance team was recognized for a lifetime of round dance choreography, teaching and promotion of the dance throughout the United States and abroad. The Bucks have choreographed more than 80 round dance routines and have taught thousands of students. During the evening attendees enjoyed viewing a continuous loop video of vignettes including instruction, dancing and still photographs of events spanning three decades. The Bucks danced the first dance, and later cued “Four Walls,” one of the most popular dances from the couples extensive repertoire. Guest cuers Fred Ayres, Frances Stinson, Gloria Jackson cued a set of dances choreographed by Bill and Martha Buck. Honoree Bill Buck cued the “Goodnight Waltz” as the gala event drew to a close.	ABOUT US CONT.: To date the Bucks have choreographed over eighty round dances. Many are still popular. Some of their favorites are: A Poor Man’s Roses, Jean III, Blueberry Hill, Making Memories FT, & Four Walls.. Bill is a retired Medical Sales Representative from Bristol-Meyers Squibb and Martha a retired supervisor of Early Childhood Education from the public schools. They have one grandson, Matthew age 20 and attending the University of Colorado. Other interests include bird watching (Bill) and cooking (Martha). Emcee Doris Philyaw introduced in “may I have the envelope, please” style a series of gifts including a Pinnacle Award inscribed for the occasion,; a custom scrapbook featuring friends, events, photographs and handwritten congratulatory notes; a lighted digital frame containing some 200 photos from dance events spanning several decades; with the last envelope containing a cash gift presented near the end of the tribute ceremony.
